Barrel Making – Jack Daniel’s
A few months back, I had the pleasure of flying down as a director of photography to Lynchburg, TN to see how Jack Daniels is made – and work alongside the talented team at Arnold World Wide. I got to see the town itself, as well as meet some incredible people who both live in the town and work at the Jack Daniels distillery (this documentary film will be released shortly as well).
After my stay there, I drove 5 hours north to Kentucky where I got an all access pass (and then some) to the cooperage where every single barrel is made that JD is aged in. It was a much more involved process than I would have ever imagined and was blown away by the amount of hands-on work they do there.
Armed with my 5D, a glidetrack, tripod and a glidecam (as well as my talented sound man Miles), I set out of shoot the heck out of this place so the incredible editors at Lost Planet in NYC could have their way with it. Here is what they put together with everything I captured in the short amount of time we were there.
